|Hair shading tutorial|
|This is the hair we will be making.
Base is from Enchanted.
|You may print out this tutorial for your own personal use.
You may not take any part of this tut and post it on your site or anywhere.
You may not take any part of the doll involved in the tutorial.
|Once you've clothed your doll, zoom in close. Then you need to choose two colors. One just slightly lighter than the other. I chose the ones above.|
|On a new layer, use the paintbrush set at size one and draw one side of your hairstyle using the darkest color.. Don't worry about being neat. We'll clean it up next.|
|Clean up the edges so mostly it's just one pixel in thickness. If you don't like the style, you can change it as you like. Just keep it mostly one pixel thick.|
|Once it's clean, go to edit >copy. Then edit > paste as a new selection. A copy will appear on the canvas with the marching ants around it.|
|Go to Image > Mirror to flip the hair the other way and match up the sides so they are equal. You do not have to have matching sides, of course. For this example I found it easiest.|
|Take your magic wand and click inside your hair. The marching ants will appear on the inside of your hair.
If your hair isn't completely enclosed, this will not work and you will have to find where there is a break in the hairline and fix it.
|Now, fill with your lighter shade.
Go to Selections > Select none.
